We arrived on Sunday in Glen Park. After dropping off our luggage, we strolled our local neighbourhood, looking at all the colourful brick rendered terrace houses with steep driveways and quaint doors and windows. Overtired, we reitred early to watch a movie.

On Monday we caught the BART train downtown to check out the visitors centre and after some strange gritty hazelnut coffee and the discovery of a wonderful quality and affordable grocery store called Trader Joes. We bussed it to the Golden Gate Park and spent the day at the Academy of Sciences, with their puppet shows, dinosaur games and living roof as highlights.
Tuesday, we caught some buses and cable cars. After a playground and bay cruise, we explored the waterfront along the piers to Fisherman’s Warf. We spent some time in the tourist trap Pier 39, before going into another aquarium briefly before heading out for lunch and ice cream. We found a supersized candy store and a strip of street food where we had delicious dinner while Isabella had a nap on Kierans’s back.
Wednesday, November 8, we headed back to the golden gate park to hire some push bikes for a loop ride. We rode to the beach and up to lands end and beyond to get a nice view of the famous bridge. We had a picnic and some tea in the Japanese Tea garden before heading back to the Embarcadero to see the Ferry Pier markets. We stopped at a French bakery for some dinner and shopping next to an outdoor ice skating rink before catching the rapid BART train home.
So far today, Thursday morning, we are looking into camp grounds for next week hoping to have some idea of our options before we leave tomorrow on a driving adventure.
hope to hear from you all soon from J, K & I.
